Betsy Powell-Pelrine

Betsy has been performing ever since she could make noise. OK, not really but pretty soon after. As a kid, she would organize her siblings at family gatherings; writing, directing and performing original “shows.” What a lucky family. OK, not really. Then came school performances both in and out of the classroom. Lucky teachers, “No, I didn’t read that book but I could sing that Pat Benatar song if you’d like.” Music in high school was theory, classical choir pieces, musicals in the Drama Club and finally her first rock band, “The Watt.” Formal voice training started in early adult hood and continued for years with many wonderful influences including Karen Eisner and the Jeannie Diva Studio’s in Boston.

Like other local musicians, if you hang around long enough you recycle players. The whole scene is like a big family reunion. Betsy performed professionally in several local acts. Rocking Plymouth with TRAX with Mike Landers, Toni Bailey and Paul Foley; then again with Toni and Jack Leyden in ACCENT playing all over the Cape; now again with Paul in Plymouth Fury. Betsy has performed in several bands with now husband Mike Pelrine (long story) and Pete Litchfield: New Sensation, Shady Pete, the duo/trio Los and Muchos Lobos, and finally with Plymouth Fury. Then of course there are the unmentionables…which I won’t mention.

Hanging out with Betsy at a gig, is like coming to a party that she’s hosting; friendly and approachable, focused and ready to have fun. Come see what the buzz is all about!
